Frequently Asked Questions

What should you do when attachments malfunction?

Attachments mounted on a forklift rely on the hydraulic fluid supplied by the forklift to perform their various functions. When used correctly in accordance with the relevant operating procedures, whether an attachment operates properly depends not only on the attachment itself but also on the forklift’s hydraulic supply. Therefore, when you…

Before making the call:

1. Please check the pressure and flow rate of the forklift’s auxiliary hydraulic circuit (i.e., the circuit supplying the attachments).

2. Please refer to the product maintenance manual or product catalog of Longhe to determine the required hydraulic oil pressure and flow rate for this model. Ensure that the hydraulic oil pressure and flow rate supplied to the forklift attachment remain within the attachment’s specified range.

When making a phone call:

Please provide the model number (Model) or catalog number (Catalog No.), as well as the serial number (Serial No.) or product number (Product No.), as indicated on the nameplate of the device. Without these essential product identifiers and model details, we will be unable to offer effective technical support.

1. Please prepare the record of the equipment malfunction that you have inspected and documented, along with any technical documentation you have on hand for this equipment, so that we can conduct an analysis and discussion.

2. For matters relating to collateral guarantees, please refer to Longhe Company’s “Guarantee Policy.”

Is the proper operation of attachments related to the forklift’s hydraulic oil supply system?

1. The working pressure of the attachment may be adjusted according to the type of load being handled, but it must not exceed the maximum rated value.

2. The forklift must provide a flow rate no lower than the minimum required by the attachment; otherwise, the attachment may operate improperly or fail to function correctly.

3. The flow rate supplied by the forklift shall not exceed the maximum value required by the attachment; otherwise, overheating may occur, leading to reduced system performance and a shortened service life of the hydraulic system’s seals.

What is the installation class of a forklift attachment?

The attachment mounting class refers to a set of dimensional tolerances governing the interface between mounted attachments and forklift forks, ensuring that mounted attachments of the same mounting class from different manufacturers can be fitted to forklift forks of the corresponding mounting class from other manufacturers. The design and fabrication of forklift forks shall comply with ISO 2328‑82. The specific meanings of the mounting classes are illustrated in the following table:

Note: If you need to mount the attachment on a non-standard fork carriage, please contact Longhe Company’s Sales Department in advance for further details.

*: For some brands, when the rated lifting capacity of a forklift is 5,000 kg, the mast can be further classified into Grade 3 and Grade 4; additionally, for certain brands, even at the same installation grade, the mast may be further divided into Class A and Class B. Please refer to the respective forklift manufacturer’s manual for specific details.

Does a forklift with a certain lifting capacity of, say, several tons, really have a load‑carrying capacity of several tons?

If the forklift is not equipped with attachments, its load capacity will be equivalent to its own weight.

The rated load capacity of a forklift refers to its maximum allowable load when no attachments are mounted.

The rated load capacity of an attachment is the attachment’s intrinsic load-carrying capability and serves as a parameter for assessing its structural performance.

After attachments are installed on a forklift, the combined load capacity of the forklift and its attachments also depends on the type of goods being handled, operating conditions, and other factors.

For an accurate determination of the forklift’s/attachment’s combined rated capacity, please contact the forklift manufacturer.

How to Purchase Forklift Attachments

Since forklift attachments are considered part of the forklift’s components, they are sold as a complete package. If you wish to purchase them, please contact any forklift manufacturer, their local authorized dealer, or an appointed sales representative. Forklift manufacturers will provide services such as forklift modification and attachment installation, and will also take responsibility for resolving any malfunctions that may arise during operation.
