Summary:

On January 25, 2026, the first meeting of the second Academic Committee of the Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory for Intelligent Welding Quality Assessment (hereinafter referred to as the “Laboratory”) and the report meeting on the 2025 annual work summary and the 2026 work plan were successfully held at Longhe Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The Laboratory was recognized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology on May 11, 2020, under Document No. Min Ke Ji [2020] 7, and officially accredited with a plaque on July 15, 2023, under Document No. Min Ke Ji [2023] 4. It is jointly established through collaboration between Longhe Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and the School of Physics and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering at Longyan University. The meeting specially invited renowned experts and scholars in the field of welding from universities and research institutes to form the Academic Committee. More than 30 participants attended, including Laboratory Director Zeng Wei, Deputy Director and Academic Leader Fan Qiuyue, Laboratory Head Lin Wei, Executive Deputy Director Xie Dingzhu, former Executive Deputy Director Yang Linhai, as well as members of the core research team.

Dean Zeng delivered a speech, expressing gratitude for the participation and support of the Academic Committee’s experts. He emphasized that intelligent assessment of welding quality is pivotal to enhancing both the quality and efficiency of the equipment manufacturing industry, and proposed that the laboratory should leverage the intellectual expertise of its panel, focus on addressing key industry challenges, and deepen the integration of industry, academia, and research. Following this, a ceremony was held to present appointment letters to the newly appointed members of the Academic Committee—seven experts from universities and research institutes—thereby further strengthening the laboratory’s expert talent pipeline.

Yang Linhai, the former Executive Deputy Director of the laboratory, presented the annual work report, summarizing achievements in 2025 across key areas including platform development, technological breakthroughs, research-to‑practice translation, talent pipeline building, pilot-scale capability enhancement, and the management of publications and open research projects. He also identified existing shortcomings and outlined the 2026 action plan, which will focus on tackling core technologies, deepening industry–university–research collaboration, and accelerating the commercialization of research outcomes.

During the project review session, the Executive Deputy Director of Xie Dingzhu’s laboratory presented a detailed report on the 2026 open‑call research topics, covering the laboratory’s research background, technical approach, and potential applications. Drawing on their industry expertise, the expert panel engaged in an in‑depth discussion, offering constructive recommendations to enhance the projects’ precision, relevance, and address key technical bottlenecks, thereby fostering a closer alignment between scientific research and industrial needs.

Professor Yang Xiaoxiang, Chair of the Academic Committee, summarized the experts’ recommendations, clarifying the laboratory’s research‑topic optimization strategy and the key priorities for its core activities in 2026. This meeting not only defined the laboratory’s strategic direction but also laid a solid foundation for its annual work plan. By fostering an efficient communication platform and building consensus on future development, the event has established a robust basis for the laboratory to deepen its expertise and contribute to the upgrading of Longhe Intelligent and the province’s equipment‑manufacturing sector.
